Winning Habits
Wednesday, January 7th, 2009According to the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, “we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
As the first full business week of the New Year comes to a close and the holiday glow fades, dire economic news and the challenge of keeping your business afloat loom front and center. Tough times have historically led to more lawsuits because when things go wrong people tend to engage in the blame game.
To stay above the fray it’s more important than ever for businesses to have good legal literacy habits, to be mindful of their compliance obligations, their contractual obligations, their employment obligations, and so forth. Over the next few weeks I’ll be offering some tips and tools that reduce the risk of being sued and can be incorporated into your winning habits.
I’ll also be posting a short survey inviting you to tell me what business law topics and issues concern you most. I want to learn more about your legal concerns so I can offer more resources to help you manage your business legal risks better. Most of all, I want to help you keep you business from turning into a litigator’s chew toy, because excellence is not an act, but a habit.
